Jeroen Boerwinkel's .................................
THEATRE OF DREAMS

The Theater van de Droom (Theatre of Dreams) by Jeroen Boerwinkel and Laura Hamers brings an expressive form of mime theatre, brought to life from their own imagination in a language of motion, intensified by the use of costumes and props which were designed and produced by Jeroen himself. The different solo performances, with titles such as Harlekinade, Panopticum, Pierrot, The Jester, Monsieur Grisaille, The Skirt, Animus and Anima, The King, Beardman, The Coat, Brammert & Beertje and The Box each breathe a poetic atmosphere and are absurd but humorous at the same time…
Jeroen’s form of motion theatre is entirely without text and often in complete silence... but some acts are supported by a fascinating décor of sound or some small instrumental accents and his performances can therefore be freely interpreted by the audience. The show can be enjoyed as a mysterious dream with the strangest figures: images in motion from the subconscious that call on the viewer’s emotions and keep lingering in the mind.
From the press: Figeuro “…The Theatre of Dreams, a mimical masked performance by Jeroen Boerwinkel… indeed the atmosphere of a dream! We sense the dreamy atmosphere, the gradualness of movements, the metamorphoses, the slow but always captivating pace. We see a king with a ball of light, who is grabbed by the throat by a hand. We see a free-standing coat, belonging to a missing aviator and the woman mourning him. A monk, with a broom coming out of a harp box, who is only a head studying a map. Accompanied by beautiful music and splendid, almost impossible movements…”
“The acts are of a strongly poetic pictorial language, but also breathe a deeper, absurdist meaning. All costumes and props are surprising and radiate the signature of Jeroen in atmosphere as well as detail. Some visual tricks are those of an illusionist and reinforce the unexpected transitions. Looking concentrated, searching, interpreting… Balance, tranquility, modesty… In the slowly fading light the mysteries of his characters become greater.”
